Data we collect
On the website: no data is collected, except the data you send us by email and the technical logs processed by our hosting provider, Cloudflare (IP address, date and time of connection), to keep the service secure.
In the app:
- Identification and contact data: surname, first names, phone number, email address, profile photo.
- Identity verification data: a copy of an official identity document and, where applicable, a verification photo.
- Profile data: subjects, levels taught (from primary school to university), area, availability, qualifications, experience and, for tutors who teach at a school, the name of that school.
- Location data: municipality and neighbourhood of residence and, for lessons at home, the address where lessons take place, shared with the tutor once the agreement is confirmed. To verify in-person lessons, the location of the parent’s or adult pupil’s phone and of the tutor’s phone is checked once, only when the lesson code is generated and entered, never continuously.
- Pricing data: level taught, subjects, frequency and number of hours of lessons, format (at home, online or another place), distance travelled by the tutor and the calculated price.
- Data about the pupil: first name, class or level of study, school or university attended and support needs, provided by the parent or by the adult pupil themselves, limited to what is strictly necessary for the lessons.
- Agreement data: terms of the lessons, formalised agreements and the date and time each party confirmed them.
- Authentication data: phone number, confirmed at registration with a code sent by text message, and PIN code, stored in irreversibly encrypted form. Fingerprint and face recognition are handled by your phone’s operating system: NotreContrat neither receives nor stores any biometric data, only the result of the check.
- Payment data: amounts, dates, transaction references, the operator used and, for tutors, the mobile money account number to which payouts are made. NotreContrat never has access to your mobile money PIN.
- Lesson verification data: lesson codes, date, time and result of the check (presence at the scheduled location or cross-code exchange for online lessons), declarations, disputes and supporting evidence provided.
- Request and rating data: tutor requests (subjects, number of hours, format), proposals accepted or declined and ratings given to tutors after lessons.
- Linking data: QR codes and invitation codes used to link two accounts, single-use and deactivated after use or expiry.
Purposes and legal bases
- Creating and managing your account, offering you a tutor matching your request or linking your account to your current tutor’s, and formalising the agreement: performance of the contract between you and NotreContrat.
- Displaying tutors’ profiles (experience, number of pupils taught, average rating and number of ratings) so that parents can make an informed choice: legitimate interest.
- Calculating the price of lessons according to the price scale, including travel costs based on the distance between the tutor and the place of the lessons: performance of the contract.
- Verifying that each lesson took place, using the lesson code and, for in-person lessons, a one-off location check, with your permission to access the phone’s location: performance of the contract.
- Verifying users’ identity, protecting pupils who are minors and making sure a teacher does not give paid lessons to their own pupils: legitimate interest, user safety and regulatory compliance, with your consent for identity data.
- Holding the contract payment, verifying that lessons were delivered, paying tutors the amounts due and, where applicable, refunding parents: performance of the contract and legal obligations.
- Preventing fraud and money laundering, and responding to requests from the authorities: legal obligations.
- Sending you information about the service: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Protection of minors
The app is reserved for people who have reached the age of legal majority: parents, adult pupils or students, and tutors. A pupil who is a minor cannot create an account; data about them is entered by their parent or legal guardian, who remains in control of it and may ask for it to be deleted at any time.

- The other party to the agreement, for the data needed for the lessons only (for example the address where lessons take place, shared with the tutor once the agreement is confirmed).
- Parents and adult pupils to whom a tutor is proposed, for that tutor’s public profile: first name, photo, subjects, levels, experience, number of pupils taught, average rating and number of ratings.
- Technical subcontractors (hosting, text messaging, identity verification), bound by confidentiality and security obligations.
- Payment operators and the partner institution licensed by the BCEAO, to process payments, payouts to tutors and refunds.
- Administrative and judicial authorities, when legally required.
Your data is never sold or rented.
Transfers outside the country
Data is hosted in the United States and data centres in Cloudflare’s global network. Any transfer of data to a third country is made only after prior authorisation from the ARTCI, in accordance with Law No. 2013-450, and to recipients offering an adequate level of protection.

- Identity documents: for the time needed for verification, then [To be completed: retention period].
- Agreements and payment records: 10 years, in line with the retention obligations for accounting records (OHADA law).
- Proof that agreements and the tutor’s declaration were confirmed (date, time and confirmation method: PIN code or the phone’s biometric recognition): kept with the agreement.
